How to use this guide

• Begin with prayer for understanding and obedience.
• Read the full section out loud if possible.
• Use the S.O.A.P. pattern:
  • Scripture: Write the key verse(s).
  • Observation: What does it say?
  • Application: How should I respond?
  • Prayer: Ask YAHUAH for help to obey.

Big picture of Matthew

• Author and audience: Written to show that Yeshua (Jesus) is the promised Messiah and true King.
• Main theme: The Kingdom of Heaven and the King who fulfills Torah and the Prophets.
• Key repeated idea: “This was to fulfill what was spoken…”

Key people and places (quick reference)

• Yeshua (Jesus): Messiah, Son of David, Son of Abraham, Teacher, Healer, King.
• John the Baptist: Prepares the way, calls Israel to repentance.
• Pharisees and scribes: Religious leaders often opposing Yeshua’s authority.
• Jerusalem / Temple: Center of worship and conflict.
• Galilee: Region where much of Yeshua’s ministry begins.

Section-by-section study plan (12 sessions)

1. Matthew 1–2 — The King’s coming
   • Focus: Genealogy, birth, worship, protection.
   • Ask: What do these chapters claim about Yeshua’s identity?
2. Matthew 3–4 — Preparation and testing
   • Focus: Repentance, baptism, temptation, calling disciples.
   • Ask: What does the enemy tempt Yeshua to do, and how does Yeshua answer?
3. Matthew 5 — Kingdom character (Beatitudes)
   • Focus: Heart posture, true righteousness.
   • Ask: Which blessing challenges me most?
4. Matthew 6 — Kingdom devotion
   • Focus: Giving, prayer, fasting, trust, treasures.
   • Practice: Pray the model prayer slowly, line by line.
