Mark 4:21–25 (NKJV) — Breakdown & Explanation
Context (why YAHUSHA is saying this)
This comes right after the Parable of the Sower (Mark 4:1–20). Messiah explains the purpose of receiving light/truth—and the responsibility that comes with hearing.
v.21 — “Is a lamp brought…?” (Lampstand, not hidden)
- A lamp is meant to give light, not be covered.
- The “lamp” can point to: Messiah (the Light), the Word/truth you receive, and your witness as a disciple.
Key idea: If YAH gives you understanding, it’s meant to be lived openly and used to guide.
v.22 — Hidden will be revealed
- What is hidden will come to light—truth is revealed and what is false is exposed.
Key idea: The Kingdom is not meant to stay concealed forever; YAH reveals what is true.
v.23 — “If anyone has ears to hear…”
- A call to respond, not just listen.
Key idea: Hearing in a “Shema” sense is listening with intention to obey.
v.24 — “Take heed what you hear… measure… more will be given”
- Be careful what you receive and how you receive it.
- The “measure” is the standard/openness you bring when hearing.
Key idea: The way you receive truth affects how much understanding increases.
v.25 — Stewardship: more or less
- Truth practiced grows clearer; truth neglected becomes dull.
Key idea: Light must be stewarded—obedience multiplies light; neglect diminishes it.
