1) Foundation: the Bible’s justice vocabulary (core definitions)

• Justice / right-ruling (mishpat): right decisions, right verdicts, right outcomes. Includes courts, leaders, community order.
• Righteousness (tsedeq / tsedaqah): what is straight, true, faithful, aligned to Yahuah’s character. Includes personal integrity and covenant faithfulness.

Why “scales” matter: Scales, balances, weights, and measures are a picture of justice because they represent measurement without distortion.

• No cheating.
• No partiality.
• No hidden advantage.
• No double standards.

2) TORAH (Instruction): Yahuah establishes the standard and the safeguards

Torah teaches that justice is not a feeling. Justice is a standard + a process + accountability.

A) Honest measurement (marketplace justice)

Anchor commands

• Leviticus 19:35–36 — do no unrighteousness in judgment, in measures of length, weight, or quantity. Have just balances, just weights, just ephah, just hin.
• Deuteronomy 25:13–16 — do not have diverse weights and measures; a perfect and just weight is required.

Meaning

• Honest measurement is covenant obedience.
• Crooked weights create crooked outcomes.
