Text (sense):

• Wives, to your own husbands as to the Lord. (v.22)
• Because the husband is head of the wife, as also Messiah is head of the church—He Himself being Savior of the body. (v.23)
• But as the church submits to Messiah, so also wives to husbands in everything. (v.24)

Why this matters: Paul grounds the household instruction in a Messiah ↔ church analogy. To understand what “submission” and “head” mean in marriage, we must first understand what Paul says Messiah is to the church and what the church is to Messiah.

Meaning (core idea)

ἐκκλησία (ekklēsia) refers to an assembly / gathering of people—those “called out” and convened.
