Key thought: To “be holy” means to be set apart unto YAHUAH in heart, speech, conduct, and worship. Ephesians 5:3–6 warns believers not to treat sin lightly, because the set-apart people of YAHUAH are called to walk as children of light.

Understanding Holiness
Holiness is not only separation from sin. It is also consecration unto YAHUAH.
- Set apart in identity: We belong to YAHUAH and are not our own.
- Set apart in conduct: Our lives should reflect the character and instructions of YAHUAH.
- Set apart in speech: The mouth should not be used for corruption, uncleanness, or foolishness, but for thanksgiving, truth, prayer, and praise.
- Set apart in desire: Greed and impurity reveal divided worship, because what the heart clings to can become an idol.
- Set apart in discernment: We must not be deceived by empty words that excuse sin or make rebellion appear harmless.
