Breakdown: An Unfruitful Tree

• “Roots dried up beneath”: What is hidden is withering first. The life-source is being cut off (heart, conscience, covenant nourishment).
• “Branch cut off above”: What is visible is removed next. No branch-life means no fruit.

No root-life → no branch-life → no fruit.

Luke 13:6–9

• Yahuah seeks fruit: expectation is righteous.
• Time is granted: “three years” + “this year also” shows mercy with purpose.
• Cultivation first: “dig about it, and dung it” = added correction, nourishment, and pressure to produce.
• Removal if unchanged: “cut it down” if it remains barren.

What “unfruitful” means (biblical markers)

• No fruit of repentance: Matthew 3:8–10; Luke 3:8–9
• Leaves without fruit (appearance without substance): Matthew 21:18–20; Mark 11:12–14, 20–21
